A Message from the Winner

Scott asked me to post this on the blog:

"I just wanted to take the time and thank everyone for their hard work and dedication on this project.  It just goes to show that compassion still exists in the world.  I truly look forward to receiving this army and playing with it proudly knowing that we were able to help those in need with our generous donations of time and money.  So thanks again to everyone who participated.  You truly are a group of amazing human beings.
If any of you find yourselves in the Boston area I’d love to give you the opportunity to throw down against this beast!!
Most Sincerely
Scott Kunian"

Change of Plan

No worries, everything is going fine :)

But some of us, like Justin from Secret Weapon Miniatures, are very busy people.Sadly, something went terribly wrong with teh delivery of the Dreadnought he was supposed to paint, and now he has other obligations that keep him from finishing his contribution.

BUT!
Justin is not just a very generous genbtleman who sponsored all of the bases for our army and promised us a miniature, too, he is also a gentleman who keeps his promises. Therefore, instead of contributing a Nurgle-dedicated Dreadnought, he will paint a vehicle for the winner to his specifications!

Just to give you a taste of what kind of magic he can work, look at this:

And another lucky winner!

Time to announce another lucky winner of a weekly give-away!

This week's prize is donated by Anvil Industry.

And the winner is:

Nathanial Taylor from the US
You will receive a squad of 6 Imperial Borders with his choice of Anvil Gaming bases!

Imperial Borderers are recruited from the endless farmlands and vales between the Alpha Cities of Helot Prime. In the time of civil war these countryside provinces have become nightmare battleground of foetid trenches and smashed bunker complexes, where the Borderer regiments repel constant assaults from house Crowmanita and their Occult allies.\

Check out Anvil Industry for awesome miniatures and heaps of useful conversion parts!

What is the JVMF?

Hello everybody,
one of the main questions everybody is asking me is: What is this Jack Vasel Memorial Fund actually doing?

Luckily there is a thread on the RPGGeek forums that has a lot more informations about what they are doing and how they help people.

Please have a look at it: All about the Jack Vasel Memorial Fund

Seven Disciples of Decay

And the first finished squad!

Goatboy won the race (well, there was no race, but he won it anyway [he is just full of win! (Don't tell him there was no race, he might get sad)]) and proudly presents his Death Guard squad:

On the Anvil of War

This week's give-away is a brand new squad of Imperial Borderers, generously donated by Anvil Industry.

Anvil Industry is not just this week's sponsor but also supplied the Black Crusade with a range of bits for conversions. For example, both my second World Eater squad and the Bikers have been built with Anvil Industry parts.

The winner of this week's give-away will receive a squad of 6 Imperial Borders with his choice of Anvil Gaming bases!
Imperial Borderers are recruited from the endless farmlands and vales between the Alpha Cities of Helot Prime. In the time of civil war these countryside provinces have become nightmare battleground of foetid trenches and smashed bunker complexes, where the Borderer regiments repel constant assaults from house Crowmanita and their Occult allies.

Check out Anvil Industry for awesome miniatures and heaps of useful conversion parts!

Make your contribution until sunday 12th of August 12 pm EST and you are in the drawing for this prize!

Finished Nurgle Lord

Last night I finished up my donation to the Black Crusade Charity Drive 2012. It's a 'counts as Typhus' Nurgle Lord. He ended up very gory, which is not something I have done before, but it was enjoyable to play around with. I ended up using a different base for him then I first intended, because I wanted to give the model a bit more height. The Typhus model is slightly smaller then the new Terminator models, so the extra height gives him more visual weight on the battlefield.

The poor Imperial Fist is a tribute to a Nurgle Lord I made years ago, I thought it was fun to remake that model a bit.

Here's that old guy from 2009 and the new one next to him

Below you can see the gore, sculpted with green stuff and finished up with some glossy varnish.
I had the blood drip down on the ground a bit, pretty hard to make that believable, but I am happy with the result.

Lots of glossy residue coming from his flesh breaking out of the terminator armour.

I did end up putting some blood on the scythe, just to create a spot color of red over 3 parts of the model.

And that was it. It will be shipped off and raffled off to a lucky winner, getting a great Chaos Army. It will be raffled off the end of August. PLEASE donate; the cause is great and we all know how generous our gaming community can be.

Honour your Chapter!

Rule #2 – Double Tap!

Yes, that's right, this week we have two prizes for two lucky winners!

Fantasy Flight Games sent us two copies of the brand new Honour your Chapter supplement for Deathwatch!

The brethren of the Deathwatch are the champions of humanity, the elite of the elite, and the very best the thousand and more Chapters of the Adeptus Astartes can produce. But while many Battle-Brothers are drawn from the most well known Chapters—the Blood Angels, the Space Wolves, the Ultramarines, and others of the First Founding—still more hail from lesser known bodies, the Successors of the great Legions. Some of these Chapters are every bit as famous as their celebrated progenitors, while others are all but unheralded. Nevertheless, all are heroes.
Honour the Chapter is a supplement for Deathwatch that provides a wealth of options for players interested in characters drawn from Chapters created during the Second or subsequent Foundings. This comprehensive tome contains new character creation rules, a wealth of relics unique to each Chapter, and plenty of guidance and adventure seeds for Game Masters.

Make your contribution until monday 6th of August 12 pm EST and you are in the drawing for this prize!
And of course if you already made a contribution you are in the drawing, too.

Crusaders! Assemble!

So, you have been hanging around here for quite a while, you looked at the WIPs and you thought:"Well, pretty cool, but what is actually in the army? That can't be all of it, can it?"

Fear not! Of course we have only shown a portion of what we have!

Here is a little list of what you can expect to get if you are the lucky one:

HQ
Abbadon the Despoiler (painted by Studio Giraldez)
Typhus (painted by Mike from SCWH)
Kharn the Betrayer (painted by yours truly)
Lucius the Eternal (painted by HakoMike)
Thousand Sons Sorceror on Disc of Tzeentch (custom built and painted by Master of the Forge)
Lord Zhufor (painted by Jake S.)
Lord on Bike (painted by Nicole S.)
Nurgle Lord on Palanquin
(painted Jake S.)
Lord with Jump Pack (painted Jake S.)

ELITES
5 Death Guard Chaos Terminator (painted by Pirate Viking Painting)
5 World Eater Terminators (painted by yours truly)

2 Nurgle-dedicated Chaos Dreadnoughts (painted by Jake S. and MrJustin)

10 Death Guard + Rhino (Painted by Goatboy)
2x 8 Death Guard (built by Michael C. and painted by Dave M.)
10 Noise Marines (built by Keef and painted by HakoMike)
5 Black Legion Marines with Rhino (painted by Mark W. and Area52)

HEAVY SUPPORT
Black Legion Land Raider (painted by Nicolas R.)
World Eater Land Raider (painted by yours truly)

SWAG
KR Multicase Army Bag
6th Edition Codex Chaos Space Marines (as soon as it is available)
Black Crusade 2012 T-Shirt (featuring the Abaddon Artwork)

After all, this is not a definite list but just the contributions people promised us. So please don't sue us if there are any changes :)
There are some additional things we are working on, and the extension of the campaign will help us getting more stuff.

But seriously, even without any further upgrades this force is easily worth over 4500 points and for sure a more than solid base for any Chao Space Marine army!

You got Wrecked!

And time to announce another winner!

The Wreck Age bundle kindly donated by Hyacinth Games goes to...

... David Millest form the UK !

Congratulations!

Kraken Unleashed

The fun part of running a campaign like the Black Crusade is too see what exciting ways people find to help us!

Dave Taylor (you know, as in Dave "my armies are featured in the White Dwarf" Taylor) has been a strong supporter of all of the campaigns. This year he decided to support us in a very special way:

So, after three and a half years of photographing the models I've painted and tapping away at this keyboard, this humble blog has passed two pretty big milestones. For that I want to thank you all!
All 1,514 Blog Followers! I want to thank you all for your support, and over 1,000,000 page views!
To celebrate I've decided to give away my Tyranid army. I've never shown this army on my blog, as I painted it around five years ago. You may have seen it, however, in the 40K 5th Edition rulebook (photo below). There's roughly
1,500 points of Hive Fleet Kraken goodness that has never been played with, but has made a trip to the UK for photography ; )

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO WIN?
Well, it's pretty simple. Here are the three steps to victory:

A) Donate $5 or more to the Black Crusade 2012 by the end of August 5th. You can check out their cool charity project here. Please put your "blogger name" in the comment section of your donation.

B) Be a follower of this blog, and leave a comment at the bottom of this post that promotes your favorite toy soldier blog (not this one, but someone else's). That way we can work together to build all blog traffic : ) Again, you need to do this by the end of August 5th.

C) Sit back and relax. Once I'm back from vacation I'll be checking in with Falk (from the Black Crusade and Tabletop Fix) and cross-referencing the entries with "blogger names" and so on. Once I have all that squared away I'll put up a new post and let everyone know when the random drawing will be.
So if you would like to get the chance to win another completely painted army, head over to Dave Taylor Miniatures! If you are already a supporter of the Black Crusade you can of course just complete step B to be in the draw,

Attention! Important News!

Hello everybody,
we have to make a very important announcement:

We will extend the deadline for contributions to the Black Crusade! The new date for the final drawing is the 31st of August!

Why are we doing this?
No worries, the army is actually mostly done. And it is quite a force! We will tell you something about the composition tomorrow.

But we realized that the timespan between our deadline for painting and your deadline for contributions is too small. Basically we are just starting to show all of the finished stuff now when you have almost no longer the chance to get your lots :)
And if we extend the campaign we will be able to promote the Black Crusade at GenCon, thereby raising even more money for the Jack Vasel Memorial Fund.
Never forget: This is what it is all about!

So we agreed that it will be better to have more time to showcase the products of our labor.

Of course we will have more weekly give-aways (so you should actually be glad that we are extending the deadline :) ).

Cheers,

The Black Crusade 2012 Team
