Kill! Maim! Burn! Kill! Maim! Burn!

Only a couple of hours left!

So here is the first finished squad of World Eater Beserker and their Rhino:

The second squad and the Bikers need to get their finishing touches and should be done tomorrow morning:

The Land Raider and Kharn himself still demand a little bit of attention but will be done after the weekend:

Down with the Sickness

The clock is ticking!

And to give you some additional incentive to make a contribution, here are two more mostly finished squads of Plague Marines painted by Dave M:

Head Honcho

Hello everybody,
Angel Giraldez is a very busy man. He is not just painting all the studio versions for Infinity and Urban War but also fits in commission work into his tight schedule.

Therefore we are more than happy that he agreed to paint the most important miniature of everyy Black Crusade army for us, Abaddon the Despoiler himself.

Here is a WIP picture:

Angel is actually using part of his summer vacation to help us, this is true dedication to a good cause!

To see more of his amazing work go to the Studio Giraldez blog!

Surprise Vindication!

Look what I found in my mailbox today:

“As a surprise, which not even Falk knew about until he saw this email, I’ve decided to donate a Vindicator on top of everything else.  Why?  Because he wanted one, and who doesn’t love a siege tank of DOOOM!?  Well, that and the Raptors that we’d gotten to add in were Failcast and had casting fails galore in them, but that’s another rant altogether.
The Black Legion symbol on the side of the Vindi was sculpted by Stew S., a local hobbyist who’s an insanely good painter and budding sculptor as well.
SlugBob is in there just for scale purposes, to show how big he really is (he’s a bit taller than an AOBR plastic dreadnaught)."

"The Rhino was thoughtfully donated by our local gaming shop, Area52 down in Tasmania.  A kit like that just screams for customisation, so it got it in the form of skulls over the side doors, a new front-end incorporating parts from the long OOP Rhino of olden days, extra armour on the front with sculpted on daemon aspects, and on the rear ramp (not pictured unfortunately), the same Black Legion symbol that you see on the Vindicator’s side.

I’m not going to give away all the plans for the paintjob, but it’ll be dark and honor the gods.  There may even be flames.”

That's even more units that weren't on our last army list! I need to post another update soon!

Seven Nurgs of Nurglings

Jake has more previews for us:

"As the bases from Justin finally arrived late yesterday, I was able to do the Nurglings.  Unfortunately, as originally done and then recast, they didn’t fit onto the bases, because there’s so much.. stuff.. on them.  If I’d paid attention to the pictures before telling him what bases I needed, I’d have gotten the empty hollow bases for them and filled, but what’s done is done, so I had to make due, and in some cases make new.  Don’t get me wrong, Mr Justin’s bases are beautiful, but just not what I needed for this particular set!"

"All of the Nurglings are hand sculpted originals (the white one is just a resin cast of one).  I decided that the old (and now new) GW ones just looked dicky, the arms on both were retarded in my opinion, and I went for the style as described in a few of the novels of quivering piles of bitey mucus and other bodily fluids.  I’ve also tried to keep them somewhat light hearted, as, let’s face it, bitey piles of schlock like that are a bit silly in their own way."

We are Alpha Legion

From the shadows strikes AridMonk with pictures of an Alpha Legion Rhino:

This and the corresponding squad are not listed in the preliminary army list and add another troop choice to the army!

Sluggish

Today we have some WIPS from Jake:

This is Nurgle Lord (on Palanquin) SlugBob Slimetracks.  I’ve equipped him with two digitally sculpted masters (how many charity builds can claim to get not one, not two, but 3 masters in total?  None, outside of Black Crusade 2012!), the massive cleaver blade for the sword - which I’ve then hand sculpted on a symbol of Nurgle onto the front and back, and the shield.  On the shield we have words for aspects of Nurgle in multiple languages – Hebrew, Latin, Sandskrit, Late Phoenician/Arabic, Norse runes, and the written indicators for Inuit along with the standard 3 eyed fly.

The lower body/palanquin/slug section is hand sculpted from Super Sculpey around a floral wire armature and foil bulker.  It’s a bit hard to see as I’ve concentrated the photos mostly on the upper body, but there’s a slug/salamander type pattern worked into the sides and back of the lower body.

The billhook/axe head is from the Chaos Knights sprue, the basis for the sludge cannon is from the Chaos vehicle frame, specifically the combi piece for the bolter.

The upper body was proportionately based on two Space Marine torsos, but is entirely from greenstuff.  The head started out as the Nurgle Aspiring Champion head from the standard Chaos Marine squad, but took on a life of it’s own.  Lower arms are based on Terminator arms, and the uppers are normal sized.

Since the picture was taken, he’s been base coated and had that shoulder guard attached.  Now we’re just awaiting his base to arrive before painting, since he’s going to have to be slightly sculpted into the base for the slime trail, etc, to work properly.

Engine of War

And here is a picture of the second Decimator I promised you!

It was kindly sponsored by the german Tabletop Insider Magazine and will be painted by Vlado from DieVincis. As far as I know it will be dedicated to the Blood God!

Your soul smells delicious...

Wow, I know I told you there is a Forgeworld Decimator coming our way, but there are actually TWO!

Hephesto makes good use of the extension of our campaigns and added this bad boy to his Thousand Sons:

He writes:
Design wise I deviated a tad from the basic Decimator design, not in the least as adding horns to the head to make it fit in with the rest of Tzeentch units means the heads needed to be moved forward. The shoulderpads are just too bulky to work with pretty much any other shape of helmet. On the plus side, it has worked out quite well for the feel of the model.
Additionally he send us a picture of the finished Thousand Sons Rhino:

My Lord!

Sometimes you realize that you need the help of an expert to get the job done properly.

I have had a Forgeworld Lord Zhufor sitting around from an older project and of course the model was a natural choice to include it into the Black Crusade.

But I am well aware that I am not a top-notch artist, and luckily we got a lot of offers for help from people who really know there way around a paintbrush.

Like Marc Raley.

So I sent him the miniature to work his magic on it, and oh boy, he did:

He did not just painted Zhufor but also converted him by adding the amazing trophy rack!

Father Nurgle Strikes Again!

Apparently the Death Guard is trying to take over the Black Crusade!

Here we have the first Plague Marine painted by Thomas "Goatboy". I am surprised non of them has a goat head ;)

The miniatures are a mix of old school Plague Marines, Fabius Bile's retinue andthe one to the left is a converted Warhammer Fantasy Nurgle Sorcerer.

All together Thomas will paint a whole squad including a Rhino.

Ahoi-hoi,

The Earth Trembles!

Today I have another very nice WIP picture for you:

A Black Legion Land Raider painted by multiple Golden Demon Winner Nicolas Rouanet from France!

He says:
"I've slightly changed the gold and black color scheme by choosing a dark green color instead of black."

The Land Raider will be the personal ride of Abaddon himself.
(Yes, of course there will be an Abaddon in the army. After all it HIS Black Crusade! And he will be painted by another amazing painter. Small hint: He normally paints studio versions for Infinity ;) )

Follow his progress at his blog MINIATURE PAINTINGS BY JUAN!

PS: 10.000+ page views so far. Not bad ;)

Feel the Rage!

And here we have some more of the World Eaters I am contributing:

The second squad is armed with Anvil Industry Auto-Scythes. I love these weapons for two reasons: first, they look amazingly aggressive, and second, rumors say Berserkers might get an option to take Boltguns in the new codex and the Auto-Scythes work very well both as Boltguns or Bolt pistols.

Further I am building a squad of 4 Berserker Bikers. Bikers are not really the first thing that comes to mind if you think about World Eaters, but Anvil Industry also offers Chain Glaives which immediately gave me the vision of high speed beheadings on a plain of bones :)

Anvil Industry kindly provided the bits for these conversions for free! Check out their whole range of high quality products at their homepage!

Unavoidable Change

Hephesto has finished the Thousand Sons squad!

Blood for the Blood God!

And some more pictures of my World Eaters. Those pics are actually already a bit older, by now I am halfway through painting. I will paint two squads of 8 (of course 8!), each with two Plasma pistols, icon bearer and a champion with power fist.

I mixed bits from normal Chaos Space Marines, Berserkers and Possessed to get a unique look:

I'll show you some pictures of the second squad next week.
